Hey there — I’m James, and welcome to Affordable Towing Geelong.

Now, before you assume this is a site full of tow truck reviews and insurance advice, let me stop you right there. This isn’t that kind of blog.

Sure, it started with towing — or more accurately, with what happens after.

See, I used to work around the traps as a tow truck driver here in Geelong and Melborune West. I’ve seen more broken-down cars than I can count — overheated engines on the Princes Highway, flat tyres in the middle of nowhere, utes wedged halfway into ditches, you name it. But what always stuck with me wasn’t the metal, the mess, or the paperwork. It was the people.

You’d be amazed at how many stories begin with a breakdown. Including love stories!

A flat battery that turns into a friendship. A fender bender that leads to a second chance. A late-night tow that changes someone’s direction in life entirely.

Over the years, I realised that these moments — the kind that stop us in our tracks, literally — often turn out to be the start of something new. So I decided to collect them. I personally witnessed some of these stories, but other fellow towies also have brilliant stories from all over Melborune and Victoria!

Affordable Towing Geelong is a place for stories about the unexpected turns we don’t plan for — the kind that happen on the roadside, in the rain, when the engine dies and life forces you to slow down. Some tales are inspired by real experiences from my time behind the wheel; others are fictional, but they all share a common thread: something went wrong, and something good came from it.

I keep the tone casual because, let’s be honest, life on the road is rarely polished. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from years of jump starts and tow ropes, it’s that people are tougher, funnier, and more hopeful than they think — even when their car isn’t.

So grab a cuppa, scroll through a few stories, and maybe next time you’re stuck on the side of the road, you’ll remember: sometimes a breakdown isn’t the end of the journey. It’s just a detour to something better.
